Forth’s Timeline goes Technical

Matthews Marketing is bringing the history of the Forth Valley to a modern audience through the development of new Vodcasts and an innovative IVR (Interactive Voice Response) project.

IVR is a new project that will engage with young, technology-savvy visitors, bringing stories and historical figures right up to date. This pilot project uses mobile technology to enhance the visitor experience by giving those with mobile phones direct access to voices, sounds and stories of the past when beside the exhibit.

Visitors can dial for free at participating Forth’s Timeline attractions to hear

  • Surgeon General William Munro saving lives on the battlefield;
  • a young footballer take on the world’s oldest football found at Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum;
  • the impact of a cannon ball from a Carronade Cannon (nicknamed the Smasher) as it hits an enemy ship;
  • a portrayal of Mary Queen of Scots early days at Alloa Tower

A series of six Forth’s Timeline Vodcasts are planned giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the history of the area before they come and view videos of the attractions online.

The vodcasts will be available to download and along with the IVR project are adding a unique technological slant on this historical project.
