MM Named As Marketing Award Finalists


mm’s has been nominated as a finalist in The Marketing Excellence Awards Scotland 2007 Awards for the Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2007.  mm is competing in the Event category against Material for T in the Park, Maxxium UK for Jim Beam music events and The Union Advertising Agency (Historic Scotland) for Opening A Door To The Past.


The Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006 is a fantastic success story for the city’s new Mackintosh brand.  With over 120 activities including exhibitions, talks, tours, music, dance and drama performances, contemporary design shows and film screenings, the Festival event was marketed locally, nationally and internationally.


It reached over 596,000 participants, with an additional reach of over 1 million people having an opportunity to view the exhibition at Frasers, Buchanan Street and brought additional visitors to Glasgow, making a positive contribution to the local economy and increasing the impact of the arts. 


Matthews Marketing delivered a marketing campaign with a value 28% higher than the total budget spend. The marketing campaign achieved its objectives to showcase Mackintosh heritage, positioning the Festival as one of Scotland’s must-see events in 2006 and attracting audiences from around the world including Japan, Australia, Canada, USA and throughout Europe.


The Event leaves a legacy for the city for future promotion of Mackintosh. The Mackintosh Festival 2006 is a stepping stone from which Glasgow can reach further opportunities, enabling people to continue to discover and enjoy the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries.
