Glasgow Mackintosh 2006

When Glasgow hosted a city-wide celebration of its most famous architect, designer and artist – Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928), MM was commissioned to plan, create and deliver a fully integrated communications strategy to promote the Festival and the programme of 120 events to local, national and international audiences.

The resulting project won two Scottish Thistle Awards: Marketing Initiative and Festival Programme, and finalist spot in two CIPR Scotland PRide Awards: Integrated Communications and Best Publication for the Festival Programme.

MM contributed greatly to the success of the Festival, achieving the following results:

  • Over 638,000 visits made to Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006 events.
  • The local economy was boosted by over £5.6 million additional spend.
  • Advertising that reached an estimated 11 million people.
  • PR work that secured an advertising value equivalent of 30 times the PR budget.
  • Visitor numbers at participating venues increased between 16% and 86% on previous year’s figures.
