Matthews Marketing worked closely with Whyte & Mackay, Glasgow Airport, BAA and Glasgow furniture-maker, Bruce Hamilton to create a stunning tribute to Charles Rennie Mackintosh for all travellers to enjoy.
People now have the opportunity to depart from Glasgow in style as they take their place on the Charles Rennie Mackintosh “Garden Seat”.
The ’Garden Seat’, which seats eight people comfortably, was initially designed by Mackintosh in 1904 for a private residence, and over 100 years later Whyte & Mackay commissioned renowned Glasgow furniture-maker, Bruce Hamilton, to recreate the masterpiece.
Matthews Marketing was responsible for managing the project which was created to highlight Glasgow’s rich Mackintosh heritage and encourage more visitors to enjoy the celebrated architect’s extensive attractions across the city.
Nick Gaskin, UK Marketing Director for Whyte & Mackay welcomed the addition to the airport: “Charles Rennie Mackintosh is one of the jewels in Glasgow’s cultural crown – something we very much recognise at Whyte & Mackay. We are proud to be able to help promote the city’s Mackintosh legacy by supporting marketing initiatives which ensure more visitors to the city are introduced to his inspirational world-class designs.”
