Carol Matthews

Director Carol Matthews previously held posts of head of marketing at Glasgow Museums 1989 - 1996; chief marketing officer for Glasgow City Council 1996 – 1999; and director of marketing, communications and operations at Glasgow Science Centre 1999 – 2002.

Carol founded Matthews Marketing in 2002. The company’s track record is excellent with a broad range of clients including national and international business.

In 2007-2009, Carol chaired CIPR Scotland, the chartered body of the communications industry and was invited to become a Fellow of the organisation in 2009. She is also a long-standing member of Marketing Society Scotland.

Heather Macpherson

PR Manager Heather Macpherson graduated from Strathclyde University with First Class Honours in Marketing and began her career working for the world's leading vendor of environmental software IES, Ltd. Here, she gained experience in all areas of Marketing including; events, social media, website maintenance and PR. Her next move was motivated by her want to experience working in the world's international business hub – New York City.

Heather worked as an Assistant to the Production and Business Development departments for the award winning post-production boutique Wild(child) Editorial. Here, she worked with the Business Development Director on a PR and Social Media strategy. She also worked closely with the Production and Client Services departments, enabling her to absorb the Advertising industry in its completest form. Throughout her year in New York City she also worked alongside Al Pacino (self-proclaimed best achievement yet) and studied for a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Business Practice.

Armed with her international experience, Heather's next stop was London. There, she put in a brief stint at a top digital media agency, before her love for Scotland brought her back up North. Now, working for Matthews Marketing, Heather has been putting her varied international experience and creativity to use on a variety of different projects.




Carol Matthews

Dylan Paterson

Following a diverse background from the education and training sector to experience of the private retail sector, Dylan spent 12 years in the enterprise network at both local and national level. As a key team member in the Business Growth Unit of Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, Dylan developed a sound reputation in his role as tourism specialist.

In 2007, Dylan extended his interest in international tourism with the network of influential Scots abroad, undertaking fieldwork in the Middle East and Europe.

For the past decade, Dylan has contributed to the development of the Mackintosh legacy through his role in Scottish Enterprise, most notably by his involvement in the ‘best practice’ visits to Barcelona and Chicago and also by his membership of the steering group of the Glasgow Mackintosh Festival in 2006. Dylan has been a key member of the Glasgow Mackintosh project delivery team 2009-2011.

As well as focusing on his commercial remit, Dylan works as a volunteer for the the CRM Society and the Mackintosh Church at Queen’s Cross.



Mandy O'Donnell

Following a hugely successful career within top design agencies, Mandy set up Treesholm Studio, in January 2009. Working in collaboration with Matthews Marketing Ltd across several campaigns, Mandy focuses on branding, communications and exhibition design.  


After gaining her honours degree in Graphic Design at Glasgow School of Art, Mandy worked for internationally renowned design company Pentagram, in London from 1991 until 1995 creating branding, signage, information graphics and book design. She moved from Pentagram to Glazer where she led the creative team specialising in corporate brochures.

In 1996, Mandy joined Graven Images in Glasgow as Director of Graphic Design. She headed up the graphics team until 2009 and was involved in a wide range of projects including place branding, corporate identity, print and web design, signage and exhibitions.

Mandy is MM's in-house design director with particular expertise in the design and management of brand systems for print, signage, websites and digital communications. Mandy's experience contributes to ensuring that Matthews Marketing projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Mairi Bell

Mairi has just completed the cycling trip of a lifetime in Australia. It was a charity fundraising break from over 20 years of experience working in economic development within the Enterprise Network in Scotland, first with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and then in Glasgow for Scottish Enterprise.

Mairi has managed teams, led on strategic projects and gained an in-depth knowledge of tourism, creative industries and business development. She has experience of developing and implementing a wide range of business development programmes to address specific issues and has an excellent understanding of Scotland's tourism industry landscape.


Stephen McLean

Stephen, a previous winner of the CIPR Outstanding Young Communicator of the Year Silver Award, provides Matthews Marketing with specialist PR and Web support.

Stephen offers a great depth of experience in the creation, management and execution of PR & Web strategies for a diverse set of clients. Key industry experience within both the public and private sector includes events, arts, tourism, business, regeneration and employment.

Projects of national and international significance include: Homecoming Scotland 2009 – Return to the Ridings, Eurovision Dance Contest 2008, Scottish Sailing, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum re-opening PR, Winterfest Glasgow and Pacific Quay – Glasgow’s Digital Quarter.
